“Small Group Activities”

The basis of an SGA is the use of an improvement circle (Based on Deming's PDCA circle) by a multifunctional group. A team with participants that have direct influence on the desired improvement follows the eight steps, from problem definition through to lasting improvement. Following the improvement circle forces the team to think first about root causes before thinking about the solutions.

The team will use several tools and methods such as brainstorming, a cause and effect diagram, registration forms, and standardisation. The group is also trained in several types of communication skill such as decision making and active listening. An SGA team tackles problems on the shop floor in an active and motivated manner.
