“SPC”Typical for every process is that there is variation in the output. No process is free of natural variation. Judging the meaning of this variation (read: Do I have to intervene or not) is in practice difficult for operators. Statistical Process Control (SPC) gives operators the tools to determine whether to adjust the process (or to leave it as it is!) based on measurements and their trends. Is the observed variation the natural variation of the process (no adjustment) or is there a special cause for the variation (adjustment)? With SPC, this is immediately clear to the operator. |
