LEAN MANUFACTURINGWhat is "Lean"? Lean is a philosophy and method of working in which everything and everyone in the organization is focused on creating value streams in all processes and eliminating waste (muda). Lean stands for maximum added value for the customer in exchange for minimum effort. This causes product quality to rise and production costs to drop, which results in overall profit. It is a proven approach which, in contrast to traditional types of efficiency improvement, places the focus on working smarter instead of working harder. Tremendous improvements are achieved by eliminating waste and activities that do not add any value. It ensures high quality, low costs, reliable and short reaction times and more fun on the job! We see Lean applications mostly in organizations where assembly or connecting dozens of process steps and parties plays a significant role, such as in the automotive, metal and electronics industries, and nowadays also in the health care sector and the service sector. |
